Rye to Hastings

LOAD: 700

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

12 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-8)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

3 Races in 1. 9km of flat through the nature reserve and tricky Sea Wall. Nothing quicker than half marathon pace through this section. Then comes the climb, take your time and walk where needed. The finish from the top of Barley Lane is great fun, let yourself go and you could be running anywhere between 5-10k pace down the hill.

Hoping you are ok to do this? If you walk the hills then it should be achievable and the forecast looks a lot more favourable than last year. No pressure, no expectations, no target times, just enjoy being part of the event.

Very tough. Was walking/running intermittently from mile 3 but got there in the end. Lovely views and running over the top of the hills in Fairlight country park very enjoyable. The very end was difficult as I was finisihed by that point but Sue Mann ran the last hundred yards with me to get me over the line. However now I know the route with further training definitely scope for improvement next year. 18.89 km.

Just the fact you were able to take part is fantastic. It is a really challenging route, especially with some muddy underfoot conditions as well. So really pleased you were able to get this done and as you say, an opportunity to improve on it next year. Well done Ellie.
