Staplehurst 10 Miler

LOAD: 600

10 Min WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10 Miles @ 10 Mile Pace (RPE: 4-8)

10 Min CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A quiet time of the year in terms of races so plenty of appeal for this race. Mainly flat around local country lanes with one pretty brutal climb at 10k, so be prepared for that. A cheeky walk break is excused at that point. But it does mean a nice downhill finish and should allow for a good time. CLICK HERE to view the route.

Really excited about this race now so many of the team have decided to run. It should be a lot of fun. The route looks fairly decent apart from one step climb around 6 miles. My trusty pace sheet is telling me around 9 min milling would be right for you. Although perhaps hold back a little at the start and build into the race.

Think your pace is a bit out for a 1::32 finish at 9:05 a bit optimistic but managed to run the first 6 miles going by my splits at that pace until we hit that hill but managed to pick it up again by the last 2 miles not sure where the supposed downhill for the last 3 miles was but hey without that hill it would probably of been pretty close to a 2 hour half marathon ! well who knows in the future if i find a pancake flat half.

Yeah sorry, it’s hard to get all the targets right, but if that helped push you that little bit harder then it could have been a good thing. I think that hill was a little tougher than I expected and there was also one or two other hills early on. The really positive thing here is that in those last 2 miles you’re running sub 2 HM pace, deep into a tough run, so as you say, on the right course, I think it’s definitely a possibility in 2025. So you should be very pleased with this one Jo. I am.
