Week Commencing: 20 July 2026

Choose Day๐Ÿ‘‡

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Whilst the foot and the Pier to Pier worry me a little, we do have a nice build up with very little running between track and Sunday, and again next week is light, so we are factoring in the foot and being smart with the schedule. Again, day by day is the best approach, keep doing the exercises to help it, and who knows come Sunday, it might feel great (I can be an optimist sometimes ๐Ÿ˜‚). Another other problems with the plan, let me know and if you want to discuss pacing and tactics Sunday, drop me a DM.

It all depends on the nature of the session as to how hard you want to work. The longer the reps, the slightly slower the pace will be. Or if doing hills, focus on RPE rather than pace. But you always want to be working hard to ensure you make the necessary gains.

Sorry my week might end being a bit muddled. I done this session today (Tuesday) as couldnโ€™t get out of work at a decent time yesterday. I followed the track session that was set yesterday. Doing that solo was pretty humbling but happy with my paces. Foot was pinching a little towards the end but by the end of the cool down it felt ok. 6 mins – 7.18/7.18/7.14 3 mins – 7.06, 7.12 1 min – 6.34
No need to ever apologies about having to move things around. The extra rest between your weekend session and this may have helped. For me, just pleased you were able to fit this in, but also glad the foot was ok. I’m leaning towards some different types of effort sessions if you ever head out solo. Ones which are less demanding in terms of effort, but still brings the same gains by careful manipulation of reps and recoveries. Known as threshold sessions. Having done this track session myself yesterday and a threshold session last week I found this weeks much harder and demanding on my body, my calves and achilles were really burning. So given the foot I think changing your solo sessions slightly could help. So if we get another week like this where you need to go solo, just let me know and I might be able to find you a better session. Great work though Jodie. Nice light schedule now until Sunday.

The biggest mistake we can make with these recovery runs is running too fast. This will mean when our harder sessions come round we are still fatigued and not able to put enough effort in to make the necessary gains.

Done 60 mins instead ๐Ÿซก
I like your thinking. Well done Jodie.

Long runs are key. Fuel and hydrate well & join a group if you can.

Done on Saturday. Ran to parkrun and home. Enjoyable but a HR battle today.
Brilliant, big kudos for getting this done. The heat definitely effects HR. Always nice to add parkrun, simply because you get to see so many people. Awesome work Jodie. Enjoy your holiday.
