Oh my goodness. What a day. It was so sooo hot. I could not keep my heart rate down in the first few km. Just not used to the heat. Lots of strategic wall breaks. Deffo hit a few walls, I had to give myself some pep talks going round. Spent a lot of time trying to keep myself cool and hydrated. Didn’t end up under 5 hours. Which I am sad about, but I did finish which was the ultimate goal.
My Fitbit died less than 0.5 km before the end. But did still record marathon distance.
Thank you so much for getting me here. I genuinely cannot believe I have now run a marathon. Something which felt so far off and not achievable at so many points.
Thank you thank you thank you
You are very welcome. I’m so pleased you managed to achieve this fantastic goal. I think given the conditions the sub 5 was always going to be a big ask, but if you ever took on the challenge again in the future I think it’s something you could definitely achieve. But so great to have that experience of running the London Marathon and hopefully a day you will never forget. Great that managed to see you too and you looked strong compared to so many others at that stage of the route. Fantastic work Lucy. It’s been fun working with you.
