  • 20-26th April

We’ve made it. And whilst there have been obstacles along the way and the training hasn’t always been perfect I think there have been some obvious highlights, especially recently with Hastings Half and the Lydd 20. I feel like you arrive at race week in a really good place and so long as you are smart on the day, you will run a good race. My advice is don’t be afraid to really keep the pace gentle at first and you might find it’s very busy and even some walking in the first half will simply save energy for later in the race. I’m confident you’ll do well and have a memorable day. Any questions just ask, but go and smash it and have fun.

30 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

8 x 100 metre Strides (RPE: 8)
60 Second Recoveries

Sometimes a 30 minute shake out can help recovery or just give you some much needed head space. Keep it easy. Strides are crucial here.

Enjoyed this. Felt stronger going faster.
Strides are great if you continue to run post London (I hope you do).

105pts | Marathon (Race)

105 POINTS

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

26.2 Miles @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 5)

We’ve made it. So exciting. The biggest mistake is going off too fast, know your pace and stick to it, even if it feels super easy. You’ve trained well, now just go and execute. Best of luck.

Oh my goodness. What a day. It was so sooo hot. I could not keep my heart rate down in the first few km. Just not used to the heat. Lots of strategic wall breaks. Deffo hit a few walls, I had to give myself some pep talks going round. Spent a lot of time trying to keep myself cool and hydrated. Didn’t end up under 5 hours. Which I am sad about, but I did finish which was the ultimate goal. My Fitbit died less than 0.5 km before the end. But did still record marathon distance. Thank you so much for getting me here. I genuinely cannot believe I have now run a marathon. Something which felt so far off and not achievable at so many points. Thank you thank you thank you
You are very welcome. I’m so pleased you managed to achieve this fantastic goal. I think given the conditions the sub 5 was always going to be a big ask, but if you ever took on the challenge again in the future I think it’s something you could definitely achieve. But so great to have that experience of running the London Marathon and hopefully a day you will never forget. Great that managed to see you too and you looked strong compared to so many others at that stage of the route. Fantastic work Lucy. It’s been fun working with you.
