Keeping it light until the weekend, and that will be a test of how the leg feels. If you need to cut Sunday’s run a bit shorter, that would be smart. Then if all goes well, I think we can potentially look to get back into full training mode the next week or after the Pier to Pier. But that said, this is a nice time of year to be on the bike and swimming, so if you want to keep that in there once a week going forward, whilst the sun is shining I am happy to do that. Keep smashing it Shain.

Zone 2: Easy

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Done an hour on the bike and then was in the pool for 1000m swim straight after
Nice. Getting into a nice routine with these workouts now and getting that aerobic work in whilst resting the leg.

Enjoy. Swimming is a great alternative to running and probably the best form of cross training.

Zone 1: Recovery

You’ll likely need to push the pace a little just to get the heart rate into Zone 1, so don’t be fooled into thinking this will be an easy bike ride.

Only managed to get the bike in on this one but feeling good on the bike.
That’s cool as we had the extra swim yesterday. Well done Shain

Running with others can reduce perceived effort so parkrun is a good option as an alternative speed session. 10 mins easy WU & CD please.

Keep it easy but also focus on good form. If you can increase your cadence without raising your heart rate, then give it a go.

Tried to get out in the bike but got a puncture and then done 500m swim in the sea. The leg has gotten progressively worse since last Sunday so haven’t attempted running at all. I’m in no fit state to run on my leg so until the leg is at a stage of being okay again I won’t be running anything other than a 5k slowly. I’d much rather just wait and let it heal fully and once that’s done then start training properly again
Sorry to hear about the leg. In which case stick to the cross training for now. If it doesn’t get any better in a few weeks then definitely worth seeing a physio to see what they say, there might be some underlying weaknesses there, which could be fixed long term with some targeted strength work.
