20 Mins Stair Climber
Zone 2: Easy
A great form of cross trainer for us runners. Find the level which means your heart rate is in zone 2. If you go other that, reduce the level. It’s that simple.
Great week with the P2P on Sunday, means we can ditch a session. If you rather do efforts over Wednesday let me know and I can change them around. Cos of the P2P the following Tuesday will also be a rest day. If you want to discuss race tactics Sunday then let me know. But pace wise you don’t want to be going off any quicker than easy Z3 pace. Personally I am going to run the first 6km at my Z2 pace/effort and then pick up a slightly as a I settled into the race. Any other issues though let me know. Keep up the great work Karl.

Decent session this!! A good all round workout, working all the key muscle group and the fundamental movement patterns.
8 x 100 metre Strides (RPE: 8)
60 second recoveries
A chance to really focus on exaggerating perfect running form. Best done before a session or after an easy run. Not a sprint. CLICK HERE for more details.
Likely your heart rate will climb as you run up the hills, so don’t worry too much about drifting into Zone 3 for the hills, try and keep the rest in Zone 2.

The Pier to Pier. What a race. Unless you are really pushing for a quick time, in which case, go hard early (need to be well trained for this strategy), my advice is slowly build the pace and work your way through the Zones. But you certainly don’t want to be quicker than half marathon pace until late in the race.
