Week Commencing: 20 July 2026

Choose Day๐Ÿ‘‡

  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Great week with the P2P on Sunday, means we can ditch a session. If you rather do efforts over Wednesday let me know and I can change them around. Cos of the P2P the following Tuesday will also be a rest day. If you want to discuss race tactics Sunday then let me know. But pace wise you don’t want to be going off any quicker than easy Z3 pace. Personally I am going to run the first 6km at my Z2 pace/effort and then pick up a slightly as a I settled into the race. Any other issues though let me know. Keep up the great work Karl.

Zone 2: Easy

A great form of cross trainer for us runners. Find the level which means your heart rate is in zone 2. If you go other that, reduce the level. It’s that simple.

Zone 2-3: Easy/Steady

Likely your heart rate will climb as you run up the hills, so don’t worry too much about drifting into Zone 3 for the hills, try and keep the rest in Zone 2.

๐Ÿ‘
Nice to have Lindsey and Martin for company on the strides. Good choice of group as well to keep the run easy

Zone 2: Easy

16 Miles

Zone 3: Steady

The Pier to Pier. What a race. Unless you are really pushing for a quick time, in which case, go hard early (need to be well trained for this strategy), my advice is slowly build the pace and work your way through the Zones. But you certainly don’t want to be quicker than half marathon pace until late in the race.

๐Ÿ‘
Tough race that. But good to bank 16 miles at a good effort at that heat. I think we would benefit from adding some feedback, thoughts and stats. I know it can be a bit of a pain but helps me get some valuable insight I otherwise can’t obtain. Honesty is the best approach, swearing at times recommend. So if it were me and I was leaving feedback to my coach on my P2P it would read something like this “What the fuck? Why did my legs feel so tired, achilles and calves were tight from 5k onwards, aerobically felt great but legs were being dicks and at one point didn’t think I would make it to the end. Job done I guess, but need to be better conditioned surely so the legs don’t feel so fatigued in runs like this”. HR 149 Pace 5:09 RPE: 6. That kind of thing. Apologies if the swearing offends you. Great week though. 132pts in the bank ๐Ÿ’ฏ
