Do you ever have a Monday evening free? I’m sure I’ve asked before so ignore me if not. Track on a Monday 6:15-7:30pm is great. You’d love it. Same session you’ve got scheduled the following morning but we get between 40-50 runners on a Monday. First two sessions are free. Keep parkrun super easy if you do go. We want you to be rested for Sunday. There are 1:45 pacers here. So tuck in with them if you can and let the pack do the work for you. Just stick with them and switch off mentally. It makes such a difference. Hopefully see you up there as loads of the team are running Sunday. any problems let me know

Tough, but done.
Super session and great pacing. Hope you enjoyed the big group. Apologies I didn’t give you a shout out as a newcomer at the end. So used to you being there at track I didn’t process that fact. Well done Kevin

18pts | 60 Mins Run

18 POINTS

Keep that RPE down. You want to be able to run and chat, speaking of which, joining a group can add to the enjoyment here.

Ran on tues as I will be at villa park wed, & prob to tired to run thurs. 10.85 k in 1:00:08 = 5.33k’s. However I walked for 4 mins following a fall, so mostly ran around 5.20 ish. comfortable, but too quick still. Good to be running in pleasant conditions.
Sorry to hear you took a tumble, I know that can be a bit of a shock to the system. And yes I’d still have running 5:45+ for these easy runs where possible. Hope you enjoy your trip to Villa Park. I watched Villa v Chelsea there many years ago as my brother bought my dad tickets for Xmas as he was a big Gareth Barry fan (I played with Gareth for 3 years as a kid). It was 0-0. That was a long drive home, also a midweek game.

Disastrous start to the day. Left house at 6 am, headed for Bedfont Park pr, enroute to Wrexham. Find someone has broken into my car, smashing driver door window. Nothing taken, but no Bedfont Park, & no Wrexham. V disappointed! However, ran Hastings pr with my (adult) daughter – a rare treat for me, so every cloud … Ran pr in 29:00, then another 2.46k in 16:15 as she is on a schedule, and v diligent. Was planning to run Lake Dorney 1/2 m, as it was an easy stop over on the way back from Wrexham, but that was sold out. Tried to enter Eastbourne, but that was closed for entries! so decided to run 1/2m distance on Sunday on my own.
sorry to hear about the car but as you said something good came out of it, very surprised how popular the races are again, so definitely worth getting entries in early these days.

Stick to your goal pace early on and it should feel easy. Dig deep in those final 5km to achieve your goal. The biggest mistake you can make is getting swept along in the early stages and going off too fast.

Ran from the high point on south cliff to about 50m beyond the Hastings pr turning point, and back. All flat other than the series of hills at glyne / galley hill – I ran the hills both ways. In total I ran 18.8k in 1:37:58, so 5:13k’s. I know this is too quick, however it doesn’t matter what I do, only hills or fatigue slow me down, and I was pretty comfortable throughout. Was going to add the remaining 2.2 k for 1/2 m distance, however I had increasing pain to my left foot ( I’m experimenting with shoe / sock combos on longer runs, clearly todays option is not the right one), decided I was better stopping at my usual end point. This was the right call as I have no blistering or pain now. V pleased to have knocked these k’s out, despite the wrong pace. & am happy that I made the right call re stopping short. The car could have cost me, but I’ve ended up with a good week.
I like that pace for this run as it would suggest you were working around HM effort on a solo run. So that’s fine and as you said, the car could have wiped out the weekend, or the frustration of not getting a HM place, but you still got it done and hit the weekly targets which is great. 3 strong weeks in a row right now, just at the right time. Well done Kevin.
