Hi Simon,
Back in uk now.
Physio tmw. I doubt I will be able to run for 2 wks.
Planning ahead:
holiday 26 may – 12 jun, fl, so to hot to run.
So I have 16 trg weeks jun – venice, that should be enough.
20 sep Shoreditch 1/2m entered.
11 oct Goodwood 20m (not entered) : I always try to run a 20m event prior to a marathon, but they are harder to come by in the second half of the year.
Will prob enter 2 more 1/2 m’s, but will await fixtures, second thurs in jun.
25 oct Venice m, target < 4hrs.
Looking further ahead, I'm researching entry routes to Sydney & Cape Town – up to now I have only used qual times / open ballot, but it is harder to get in every yr. Failing that I'll be looking for a spring mara, either Europe or west coast us.
Can you suggest anything, other than running to maintain fitness levels over the next few weeks?
Also, one of my probs is that my watch face isn't big enough for me to read when running, I use Garmin 245's. Do you know of anything larger? I'm looking at the Fenix series, but they seem ott cost wise for my purposes. (£450 for a series 7)
I have sorted mara hydration / nutrition, however I seem to be carrying about 1/2 stone in weight that I need to deal with.
Re getting round : It's Boston, it's the best, I had to do what I could. The challenge was that I didn't know when they closed the finish line, or how fast I could move, by 15m I knew how much time I had, then it was just about how long I could keep going. In the end I had over an hr spare.
So I guess I'm more asics than nike, if you've seen the ads!
Now I need a decent sub bq in maybe 2/3 yrs, for a final run there.
Off to volunteer at parkrun now!
Thank you.
Hi Kevin, thanks for that. I’ve added a form on your dashboard to fill out the info for the next plan. I think if we take 7-10 days of rest and icing then perhaps you’ll be able to get some cross training in and light running before you go away. We obviously want to try and maintain most of the fitness you’ve built up but I’ve proven myself running 1-2 times a week that you can do that cross training in the gym. I feel like fitness wise you’re in a good place to achieve what you want to going forward, a few tweaks will hopefully do the trick, slowing down the easy runs, losing that little bit of weight and a tweak to the S&C to strengthen those hamstrings and hopefully that will make the difference for Valencia and going forward. If you can fill out that form I can put something together and we can do a bit of rehab/light training over the next few weeks so you don’t lose too much of your endurance.
