  • 13th - 19th April

A busy but sensible schedule. It’s that constant movement but done in the right way that really seems to be working right now. It’s lighter week so we don’t need a long run. It’s pacers day so a chance to go for another sub 27 if you fancied it? Any problems just shout. Keep up the great work Jan.

10pts | 60 Mins Pilates

10 POINTS

Always a good session to work on flexibility and strength.

Used bricks tonight for balancing on while doing leg exercises. A lot of focus on hip and glute strength. A good session.

18pts | 60 Mins Run

18 POINTS

Keep that RPE down. You want to be able to run and chat, speaking of which, joining a group can add to the enjoyment here.

Not a particularly comfortable run – I think football on Friday and the long, hilly run Sunday have caught up with me. Quite a few niggles (including feet and calf). I am wondering if I should rest and so miss the Thursday 60 minute run? Just a little worried that niggles are building and may result in an injury. What are your thoughts? I won’t play football on Friday as it puts a strain on my Achilles and calves plus playing a tournament on Sunday.

12pts | Jan’s S&C

12 POINTS

NOTE: You can click on any of the exercises to view a tutorial.

*Signifies you need to do each side (so twice the number of reps)

This should be a good all round workout which will hopefully help with you keep those niggles at bay. The idea being we can slowly add to these. Those doing the best with their strength are the ones who keep it simple and consistent, week in week out.

If time is ever an issue. You can do some supersets. What is a superset? It means combined 2 exercises together, ideally ones that are different.

For example you might do 1 set of Bent Knee Calf Raises, and rather than just twiddle your thumbs for 60 seconds before doing the next set, you do a wall sit inbetween.

9pts | 30 Mins Swim

Enjoy. Swimming is a great alternative to running and probably the best form of cross training.

26pts | parkrun

26 POINTS

Running with others can reduce perceived effort so parkrun is a good option as an alternative speed session. 10 mins easy WU & CD please.
