30pts | 5-4-3-2-1-1-2-3-4-5 Mins

30 POINTS

Recoveries:
5 & 4 Mins (120s)
3 & 2 Mins (90s)
1 Min (60s)

A really good session to practice 5k pace but then also get some speed into the legs. The real challenge will be holding 5k pace in the last 2 reps and that’s when we replicate what it feels like to have to dig deep late in a 5k race.

30 Points
Too wet this am, so I ran this on a treadmill. Not fun, however I ran it as specified. Ending up with 10.3k ran in 65 mins, inc 10 mins each for wu & cd. No idea where the extra 5 mins went, but it wasn’t in the fast sections! I had the treadmill on a 0.5 incline, and my hr at end was 84. Pleased I completed this.
Well done Kev. You missed us. I was back at track for the first time in months and did the session, albeit running with Jax so super slow. Hoping I’ll be back more often going forward and slowly get a bit quicker.

18pts | 60 Mins Run

18 POINTS

Keep that RPE down. You want to be able to run and chat, speaking of which, joining a group can add to the enjoyment here.

18 Points
Despite the endless rain I ran 11.62k in 62:00. So too fast, but its done!
It wasn’t going to stop yesterday was it. Bonkers. Well done for getting out there Kevin.

30pts | parkrun & Strides

30 POINTS

parkrun is the best!!! Every Saturday at 9am. A great opportunity to push our effort levels and run alongside other people. Make sure you get there nice and early for your WU & Strides. I normally aim for 8:15 to give myself plenty of time.

30 Points
22:17 for 76.0%. Haven’t run Hastings for maybe 6 mths – haven’t had a 3pm sat ko at the bridge in a long time either! Flat course in good conditions, but I have trained quite hard this week, and ran on my own, so I’m pleased with the time. Good wu/cd etc.
Nice! That’s a strong time and an excellent age grade. Especially off the back of a tough week. Shows the fitness is in a good place.

42pts | 140 Mins Run

42 POINTS

140 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-6)

Keep the long runs at a low effort level. Obviously the longer the time wears on the harder the run will become. Make sure you hydrate and take fuel with you.

42 Points
Hard work: Ran 22.4 k in 142 mins, way over 6 min k’s. Meaningless really as I walked several times. Really hard going. For many years I have entered events, and avoided long distance training runs! However, overall training is going well.
Time on feet with these longs runs is what’s important. Kevin Neil and Conal actually headed out for some mileage, 3 chaps all a similar pace in your age category. So always feel free to message me and ask if anyone else is heading out as it’s a shame you weren’t able to run with them. Although they were a touch quicker on this occasion.
