Honestly I’m so excited for Sunday. Cannot wait. A nice race for you given what you have achieved in the past month or so. An opportunity just to go out there and run to how you feel on the day. So no need to set targets or goals, just see how it goes and lap up the support. What a great week to be a runner in Hastings.

Recoveries: 120 Secs for the 12 mins, 60 Seconds for the 1 min reps.

A really good session to do as a group the week in the lead up to a half marathon. It gives you an opportunity to run a few miles at goal pace and also get some speed in the legs. Be sure to stick to HM pace though, any quicker and it defies the object of the session and you will be tired on race day.

Stick to your goal pace early on and it should feel easy. Dig deep in those final 5km to achieve your goal. The biggest mistake you can make is getting swept along in the early stages and going off too fast.

I decided long before we got to West St Leonard’s station that I wasn’t going to keep up with the 1hr 40’ pacer.i was going to treat it like a Sunday training run. I expected to come in at around 1hr 45’ so was surprised i finished in just under 1 hr 42’. Satisfying. I feel I’m still in recovery. My fitness has improved the past five weeks and I want to build on that now so not push hard at all.
Very sensible, your schedule of late has been bonkers, so at some point you needed to ease back. But what a month or two it’s been right? To take part in so many of those events and PB at marathon and half. Living the dream right now.
