Another brilliant week and I’m buzzing right now with how well you guys are doing on your training plans. Exciting times lie ahead and this week marks the start of the race calendar with the Pier to Pier.
Myself, Jo Lambourne, Will Withecombe, Jo French and Darren Barzee are all tackling the 16 miles from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Old Town. I can’t wait.
Despite the name of this site I just want to remind all that the focus of my training plans as a newbie coach is to ensure you are enjoying your running. That’s why I recently introduced the option on this platform to leave feedback.
Please continue to do that. It allows me to gather the information I need to alter the plan if need be and ensure the enjoyment level remains. The next goal is to keep you all injury free. It’s why following the plan, taking the necessary recovery and keeping those easy runs easy are all very important.
We had 2 new runners jump on board this week. Shana Burchett is looking to improve her 5k time and Adam Holland is preparing to tackle the Hastings Half. If you see their runs on Strava or facebook give them a thumbs up and some words of encouragement.
Well done to Darren Barzee who topped the elevation stats this week climbing 601 meters in his 6 runs. One of them to the Old St Helens Church and through the graveyard (in darkness nonetheless).
Saturday morning saw a very exciting contest at Hastings parkrun with 5 of the towns best runners battling it out and running alongside each other for 3km. Will Withecombe produced his best time at Hastings parkrun in over a year coming in 3rd place in 16:30. Well done Matt Edmonds for the Win!
A special shout out to Sarah Holmes. She was one of the first runners to take on my offer of a training plan and smashed her Marathon PB last autumn. She’s struggled with illness this winter but hasn’t let that setback derail her. On Saturday she produced a parkrun PB and I’m sure there is plenty more to come.
All your sessions for next week are up. Please take the time to login and schedule the runs and any feedback after the run (or at the end of the week) is much appreciated.
Consistency over a sustained period of time is what will deliver good results, keep you fighting fit and hopefully help you enjoy your running! I’m having a lot of fun helping you achieve that.
Coach Simon.
