I like the Saturday session, perfect prep for Romney Marsh. If you want to split it into miles instead that is fine, and if you can do the last 5k at parkrun you’ll find it much easier to hit goal pace ahead of next week. Obviously with no sessions Monday & Tuesday there is going to be a shortfall but I don’t like chasing pts, we can catch them up across the weeks to come. Any issues let me know, but keep up the great work Cam.

Maintaining your current 5k pace will get progressively more challenging as a session unfolds. So breaking it down in this nature should allow you to maintain that pace for the whole session.

Slight change of plans we headed back a day early so I jumped out the car and went to track to shake out the legs. Tough one, lower back didn’t feel great must have been the drive before. I’m hoping to get on the bike tomorrow if I can
Bonus. The session. Not the bad back. Driving can really do that. I can manage about an hour these days before my hip starts playing up 🤦‍♂️ Stats looks good though. Nice HR for that RPE, but good to get some pace in the legs. Well done Cam, decent start to the week.

managed to get out on the bike. Mostly Z1/2 but had some hill efforts as well. I find I recover well after cycling must be the muscle memory. I find the cycling is great for the mind and switching off for me so will like to keep up the cycling and being flexible with it, just being mindful of the running as well I suppose
I really believe in my pts system. I think it’s a great way to track training in terms of load rather than miles. From your point of view it’s just about being smart and looking at the numbers. We know last week was low due to your trip so no reason you can’t have a bigger week and go over target. That then evens it’s out a little over the fortnight. Its when you pile on big week after big week and you’ll end up crashing eventually and even worse, possible injury. But this is fine. Low effort and HR puts you in Zone 1, so around 21pts here. And as I said cos last week was about 40pts lower than your expected average you could hit something like 130-140 this week and probably be fine. But I wouldn’t go beyond that this week.

Zone 2-3: Easy/Steady

Likely your heart rate will climb as you run up the hills, so don’t worry too much about drifting into Zone 3 for the hills, try and keep the rest in Zone 2.

Complete. Nice and easy
Nice work Cam. Stats tell the story there. Easy does it.

If you have an accurate heart rate, then use that as your main data to determine pace, if not RPE is the best option. Hills are always going to cause them to go too high, unless you are super fit. Finish off with some strides.

Tough one today with the heat on the return and felt very niggly at the start but got 40 mins done and strides. I was thinking of doing my gym session tomorrow
Every point counts, even if you fall a little short, so well done Cam. Stats looks good 👍 Yes if you wanted to move the gym sesh to Friday that’s cool. Always happy if you want to switch stuff around.
