I said the exact same thing to Carl this week. Easy does it at first. Especially post Bewl, so this might feel like a bit of a nothing week in terms of running, but that will soon change, trust me. Trust the process, recovery is key too. So we want to ensure we avoid any niggles early in the plan before going into attack mode a bit more. Any issues with the schedule, just let me know. Let’s make this a good week.

Really wanted to join my trail run group and do Brightling follies but I resisted as needed to rest!
Yeah sometimes we need to miss out on things. I had a week just gone where I had 3 quick sessions I wanted to do, but know I can only do 1 a week. So I just had to ask myself, which one would I enjoy the most, and the other two had to be missed.

If some of the sets/reps are too demanding at first, just do what you can, you can always build up to 60s slowly. Wall sits and planks in particular can be tough, so just go to the point you feel you need to stop and repeat that time, even if it’s only 20s.

Left it late in the day but I did it, glad of the stretching. I definitely need this
Great work Amy. I know it can feel like a chore sometimes, but even if we are not runners, these kind of exercises are so important for our long term health and well being.

We sadly had news that my husband’s dad died today. This is why I didn’t run on Thursday but did the mileage on Sunday instead. I know that’s off plan but thought I should keep up the movement
I’m so sorry to hear this. That is very sad news. And of course no worries about switching things up. Sending my best wishes to you, your husband and your family 🧑

The biggest mistake we can make with these recovery runs is running too fast. This will mean when our harder sessions come round we are still fatigued and not able to put enough effort in to make the necessary gains.

Did the stretches but have rescheduled the run for Sunday, which I’ve done
Well done Amy. Glad you were still able to get out at the weekend.

No running or gym, just gentle walking
Always still good to get out for a walk if you can. Especially with your goal in mind!

Zone 2: Easy

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Trail run through nettles, brambles and long grass. I made use of the hilly elderflower fields to do some hill reps. It was hot, I was slow but I think it was worth it πŸ˜† Mostly Zone 1 and 2
The trails will always slow us down so I wouldn’t get too caught up in pace, especially given the route was overgrown. Like the fact you smashed out some hill reps. I can add some quicker stuff like that into the plan if you feel ready to include them already? Well done Amy.

Always fun to train in a group. Ask for help if unsure on your technique on the exercises.

Took part in a a practice PIUPID (Pick it up put it down) session at my gym. I did the competition last year, great fun. Ran to the gym to make up for Thursdays plan that I missed
That does sound fun. I think if you can add variety and enjoyment to your training in this method, then it’s a very good idea. Love how you combined the run as well. Smart thinking. Excellent work Amy
