Last week of all Z2 work. I hate setting a schedule without any variety, but equally sometimes it’s important to get yourself conditioned again before introducing the sessions, so we’ve been smart and I think in the long run it will pay off and bring the best results. So stick with it, more interesting sessions are coming. And hopefully you are starting to notice the pace of the easy runs improve for the same Z2 HR. Any issues let me know.

Zone 1: Recovery

Cross training, including Cycling can help improve your cardio whilst reducing the impact. Try and keep the HR in Zone 1 for this one.

I moved my long bike ride to today because I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it on Sunday. It was amazing, and I managed my heart rate zones really well. I’m really happy with how it went!
Yikes, you have done some miles on the bike in recent days. Impressive though.

Zone 1: Recovery

You’ll likely need to push the pace a little just to get the heart rate into Zone 1, so don’t be fooled into thinking this will be an easy bike ride.

I logged two sessions—one for 60 minutes and one for 20 minutes—because I rode for a total of 80 minutes, but I couldn’t find an option in the app to enter it as a single workout. It was a recovery ride after yesterday’s long ride, staying in Zones 1 and 2.
That’s ok, to be honest the sessions on the dashboard don’t necessarily need to be correct. The most important thing is we get the pts correct so we hit the targets without over training.

A really good home workout for the core and legs. If new to this, don’t worry about hitting the seconds or reps. Do what you can and slowly build up to the targets.

For example you might find you can only hold a plank for 20 seconds at first, which is fine. Don’t push too hard that you get injured. You’ll soon get strong and be able to add more seconds.

Zone 2: Easy

Keep this nice and easy. Focus on good form & efficient running economy. RPE should be around the 3/10 which means you can run and chat.

Today’s 90-minute run went really well. I started easy at around 6:30/km and then gradually picked up the pace, finishing at around 5:10–5:15/km. I felt really good throughout, and my average heart rate stayed within the normal range the whole time.
That’s great that you were able to really pick up the pace. I think you’ll find you can hit some decent paces on the flat and still sit in your Zone 2. Which is quite nice really when you think about it. Means you are getting the maximum benefit out of each and every run.
