90 mins is a little scary when written on paper. But you did close to 80 at both Brands Hatch and Lake Dorney and these kms can be done at a nice easy pace. Again focus on trying to maintain a relatively easy effort. The main difference as we do more time, is the legs start to ache. You’ll be amazed at how far you can go on tired legs, so don’t let that stop you. A chance to bank your longest run ever. If you need to tweak the schedule at all just let me know. Keep smashing it Abbi.

Zone 2: Easy

Keep this nice and easy. Focus on good form & efficient running economy. RPE should be around the 3/10 which means you can run and chat.

That was so much fun today (never thought I’d say that about running). Felt good today and so nice to have a different running route and running to each station along the way gave me something to focus on. Only stopped for micro breaks at each station, and one a little longer to wait for a train, but mostly ran it all 👏🏻
I love this. You are now starting to see how fun running can be when you do exciting stuff like this. I’ve done this thing many times before to varying degrees. Train to Cooden, run back to Hastings, train to Eastbourne, run back to Hastings, run to Rye, get the bus back. My biggest adventure was running all the way to Appledore Station from home (over 20 miles). I remember that one well as I arrived in Appledore with 5 mins to spare before my train, only to realise the station was another mile away 🤦‍♂️ So yes it can be fun

45 Mins @ Easy Pace

The only real mistake you can make here is going too fast. Try and pick a flat route as well. Finish off with the strides. Total time needed is 60 mins.

Felt great to get it done early, and felt easy. Didn’t stop at all either. Like you say, a lot of running is mental. Starting to really enjoy it now, but going to be a bit more of a juggle with school holidays, so I’d imagine there will be many more early morning runs to come. Not sure if I got the stride distance correct, thought I measured out 100m ok but seems to have fallen short. I’d imagine this is where track sessions would make it easier to work out.
Love you reached this point now where 45 minutes feels short and easier. Things start to get more enjoyable from here on out. In terms of the strides. You could stick to time rather than distance. So around 20 seconds per rep. Either way, distance, or time it doesn’t need to be exact, the key is just getting that little workout in to help with form.

Circuits or S&C Class

Always fun to train in a group. Ask for help if unsure on your technique on the exercises.

Struggled to get to a gym class tonight, so did my own bodyweight circuits at home. 45 mins including stretches afterwards. I did 10 of each x 3 reps: Squats Squat hold and pluses Lunges Donkey kicks Fire hydrant Glute bridge Single leg glute bridge Glute bridge hold / pluses Calf raises Skaters Wall sits 30 seconds x 3 Plank – 1 minute finisher
Nice, always good to have that as back up if you cannot get into class. Well done for staying motivated and getting it done

The biggest mistake we can make with these recovery runs is running too fast. This will mean when our harder sessions come round we are still fatigued and not able to put enough effort in to make the necessary gains.

Set off too quickly again and had to pull it right back in the middle. Clearly haven’t learnt from your words of last week that this plan isn’t focusing on a park run PB but the end goal of the half. Still feeling strong at the end of the week and impressed that I’ve managed to cover 25km!
Well done for getting this done, yeah there will come a time we tackle that parkrun PB, but at the end of a tough week important to keep these runs easier. As you said, 25km is a nice milestone and further highlights your improvement. Awesome work. Enjoy your day off.
