Hopefully back to full health to start smashing out the training again. I’ve changed the speed session to a threshold, purely just to ease in a little more. Plus my lot are doing the same session Tuesday, so nice to be doing the same as the team. A relatively kind week in that sense but some decent mileage to be banked, then next week we step it up again and kick on. Any problems just shout. Keep up the great work Mark.

Classic session. 30 mins on Sub LT2 work. Sit in right under your threshold and focus on HR not pace.

Legs felt tired, but weren’t dead at the ends of the reps. Generally felt very good and happy with pace v HR – my body definitely appreciates it being a lot cooler!
Looking the splits, the pace in comparison to RPE and HR is ahead of what we would expect which is brilliant. And as you said, at the end you weren’t wrecked. My experience last week is leaning me more and more towards this threshold work as a I did a tough 5k session Monday on the track and could feel so much tightness in my achilles and calves that I’ve not experienced for a while. And that didn’t go either and was with me in my Pier to Pier race yesterday. A week later I’m still tight struggling and believe that’s a result of last weeks tough 5k session. There’s a time and place for them, but threshold work gives us the same data in terms of pace, but for less effort. So thank you for supporting that as I will continue to use them more frequently. Great way to start the week though Mark, first member of the team to get a session done today.

A really good home workout for the core and legs. If new to this, don’t worry about hitting the seconds or reps. Do what you can and slowly build up to the targets.

For example you might find you can only hold a plank for 20 seconds at first, which is fine. Don’t push too hard that you get injured. You’ll soon get strong and be able to add more seconds.

If you have an accurate heart rate, then use that as your main data to determine pace, if not RPE is the best option. Hills are always going to cause them to go too high, unless you are super fit. Finish off with some strides.
