I have stripped it back again slightly although reintroduced the speed work. If any doubt over the leg, ditch this too. Patience is always key. Rushing back to it can extend the problem. We can always switch the efforts for another easy run if need be. Let me know how you are feeling and if we need to tweak the schedule to allow more recovery time.

Hot. Wearing chest strap. Heart rate tricky to keep down. Really had to dial back in places.
I must admit when I first started doing the HR work, it was the same. But after 4-6 weeks, I really started to notice a difference and have been able to actually push the pace now, rather than forcing myself to slow down. So patience is the key. Well done Matthew.

If some of the sets/reps are too demanding at first, just do what you can, you can always build up to 60s slowly. Wall sits and planks in particular can be tough, so just go to the point you feel you need to stop and repeat that time, even if it’s only 20s.

Nope. Week very dialled back unavoidable. Puncture heading down to North Devon on Wed. Arrived 11pm. No strength training.
Oh good, that is very unlucky. Sometimes these things happen that are out of our control. Best is not to overthink it and just move on.

No run or exercises. Car troubles. Failed to start. Business meetings sorted, but 4 hrs lost waiting for RAC. Eventually they arrange for next day. Run not possible.
Crikey, you’ve had a bad week. Due some good luck soon. Sorry to hear about your issues.

Nope. Eventually after 4 hrs new starter motor fitted. Got back home 11pm. No run.
I’m tired just reading your feedback. God knows how you feel.

No exercises. There and back to Nottingham to collect son’s university stuff. Definitely no time available to run. Sanguine. Just is what it is. Hi Simon. Just to add all is OK, but a lot to juggle at the moment. I will do what I can and just accept that it may not be as much as I would like. At minimum I need to tick over to maintain and not lose the gains I have made..
I had to look up Sanguine. As you say, not much you can do about it. Every week offers a new opportunity.

Zone 2: Easy

Keep this nice and easy. Focus on good form & efficient running economy. RPE should be around the 3/10 which means you can run and chat.

15km – 1’41” Heart rate high. What’s going on? Some hills, maybe lost fitness, also heat. Salvaged week. Just need to roll with work and life tasks this week. On a positive note, no further issues with hamstring.
The heat makes a massive difference but I wouldn’t fret too much. If anything the higher HR means we can bank some bonus points. I wouldn’t think you’ve lost much fitness in recent weeks and so pleased the hamstring is now behaving. Well done for finishing a tough week so strongly
