The positive was that I finished.
Had a fall at 7 miles on to gravel. I had to sit down for a few mins to get myself together again plus sort out my bleeding knee.
Due to the fall I lost my confidence on the uneven ground.
Found the heat affected me. Was able to run in shade but as the race went on had to walk more in the sun. Did lots of walking in the last 3 miles. Walked all the hills.at the end.
Drank lots of fluids with electlytes and took fuel.
Wanted under 3.30hr but came in chip time 3.33.34.
If I hadn’t fallen i would have made it.
I definitely a winter runner.
Another positive i was over taking runners in 2nd half. In last 3 miles I over took 4 but was only over taken by 1 who was a lot younger than me.
Well done Sue, sorry to hear you fell over but you did really well to pick yourself up and carry on. Sometimes a run like this is more about building mental strength and it sounds like you did that here. I’m glad the leg is ok and you were able to get to the gym on Monday.
