Sunday I’ve got Lake Dorney in the plan? I assume that is still happening. Again treating it as a long run is the best approach, which kind of means we have 2 runs of 60 mins or more this week. A challenge but it highlights progress already. If racing Sunday, leaving parkrun Saturday is sensible, and getting out Friday would be a smarter approach. But any problems let me know. 70pts on the table which would be the best week yet. Keep up the great work Abbi.

Zone 2: Easy

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Found this a bit of a struggle after the 5km point, so slowed right down. Not sure if it was the heat or a lot of running in the past few days, but good to tick off another session!
I think the schedule has ended up meaning 3 runs in 4 days, which is probably why you felt tired towards the end. But the fact you were able to do that is great. And knowing that walking is a good option in those moments take away that pressure or sense of failure. But another good session banked and a great start to the new week. Well done Abbi.

Zone 2

The biggest mistake we can make with these recovery runs is running too fast. This will mean when our harder sessions come round we are still fatigued and not able to put enough effort in to make the necessary gains.

A treadmill run, Despite considering a 6am run, I didnโ€™t in the end and the heat was too much after work. Always harder to gauge my pace on a treadmill (and itโ€™s boring) but another session done. HR higher than it should have been, so may have been going a bit fast at times. But felt ok.
Great work Abbi, I think at the moment if you jump on the treadmill as an alternative (which it’s a good one) don’t fret too much about pace, so long as you’re not working really hard, as if you were doing a fast parkrun, then you should be ok.

Brilliant work Abbi. There’s is a growing number of Team ๐ŸŠ who now use pure gym, 8 in total.

Zone 2: Easy

Try and keep it easy. It all depends on your current level. If slowly adding time to your long run the last 10-20 mins might be tough. Focus on good form.

That felt a lot tougher than I wanted it to be. Got about a 30 second PB, but think I set myself up to do better than that as last week was a hilly 10k vs this flat one. It was incredibly hot (about 25 degrees at 9:30!) struggled with some hip and knee pain at the 7km mark which felt like slowed me down a bit. I know I need to take it as a win as itโ€™s the second time Iโ€™ve ever ran this distance.
Congrats on your PB Abbi. The heat plays a massive part in running and would probably account for anywhere between 1-2 minutes in a 10k. Sorry to hear the hip and knee hurt, we just need to keep a little eye on that and if it persists we can tweak the schedule to include a bit more rest. Another excellent result though and a great week of training. Really well done. 5 weeks on the spin which means your first training star ๐ŸŒŸ I feel a bit like a school teacher handing out stickers to year 1, but it seems to keep the team motivated ๐Ÿ˜‚
