Whilst the Pier to Pier can be a daunting prospect, the beauty is we get a nice light week in the build up, given the pts it contributes to our training target. Silver lining and all that. Tuesday will be a good session with the team and a chance to inject some speed into the week. II’ve tweaked the plan slightly bringing forward a gym session from next week to this, just to give yourself a bit more recovery after the P2P. Any problems let me know. Keep up the great work Jo.

A great 5k session to improve speed. Don’t got off too quick, so focus on your pace in those first few reps, then you’ll get an idea of how far you can run each rep. We want to be ahead of our current 5k pace though. From there you can then pick up the pace and cadence for the 1 minute reps.

Enjoyed that, short and flat suits me 😊
Yeah impressed with your pace. You do seem to perform well in these sessions. Really impressed with the pace. Great work Jo.

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Had switch days around. Was practicing pacing on the watch but kept it easy. Hope it’s not so warm on Sunday
Great work Jo. Forecast doesn’t look too bad at the moment, bit of cooling drizzle wouldn’t go amiss.

I quite enjoy this but perhaps it could be switched up a bit.
Great work Jo, what I’ve done for now is add some alternative exercises to the notes. It’s kind of how I work my gym sessions now. I have a core fundamental pattern but just mix it up some days.

Zone 3: Steady

The Pier to Pier. What a race. Unless you are really pushing for a quick time, in which case, go hard early (need to be well trained for this strategy), my advice is slowly build the pace and work your way through the Zones. But you certainly don’t want to be quicker than half marathon pace until late in the race.
