I’ve changed things up based on the schedule feedback. Thanks for that Ben. In terms of the weekend, if not racing, we need a run Saturday to hot the pts target. So important to just be clear in your mind as to the plan for Sunday. Alternatively you could do the Oliver Curd and push the pace a little there? So still another option although that does feel like an event to treat as an easy run.

A good session to start off with your 5k pace and then pick up the speed as we move into the shorter reps. See if you can finish with your fastest lap in that final rep!!

As always the efforts sessions feel hard, but I think that is the idea! As usual I felt I went too fast on the first reps (both 5 and 2) and then just managed to maintain that pace on the following reps, even as I felt myself tiring. Happy with that.
Yeah love those splits, from both reps. Ahead of your zone targets, which given the heat is epic. I think, as you did so well, for sessions like that, finding someone to feed off, and chase, is so useful. So Karl being the perfect tool for you to benefit from. So yes, really happy with the execution there. Great work Ben.

60 Mins Run

Zone 2: Easy

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Got out early to do the run and avoid too much heat. Managed to find a route to the old railway, but most was in the open so fairly hot. But managed to keep the pace and heart rate over control. Had lots of things on today, so didn’t mange to do the legs/core session, maybe will do this on Saturday. I have now entered the Oliver Curd – my plan for both that and the Saucony is to do at an easyish pace (about 9 min mile rate).
Well done Ben, I tweaked the schedule, we are few points short potentially. My advice would be if you get a spare 10-20 on Friday just do an extra WU/CD. Eg if you’re all standing around at Crowhurst 40 mins before the race starts, just do an extra 15-20 mins.

Zone 2: Easy

It’s important to keep the easy runs easy. Focus on good running form and low heart rate.

Ran from home as a warm up – 18 mins. Really enjoyed the run, going at a comfortable pace that didn’t feel too easy. Plan was to go about 9 min/mile pace, but slightly slower due to walking through narrow bit early on and gates, etc. Lovely evening!
I loved that. I’ve done that before where I’ve been in my own. Just to have a group of us together makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Great to run you. Just to clarify, totally supportive of Hastings Runners still, just annoyed by the running of the club and their lack of interaction with members on key decisions. That’s all.

*reps/seconds on both sides

A really good home workout for the core and legs. If new to this, don’t worry about hitting the seconds or reps. Do what you can and slowly build up to the targets.

For example you might find you can only hold a plank for 20 seconds at first, which is fine. Don’t push too hard that you get injured. You’ll soon get strong and be able to add more seconds.

Did this session. πŸ‘

Zone 2: Easy

Keep the effort level down on these easy runs and focus on good running mechanics.

A great Bimbler day out! Got up very early as went to bed early and then got up to watch the England game before travelling up. Started with some of the Bimblers for the first mile and then ended up moving away from them, so slowly increased the pace as felt easy, so turned in to kind of a progression run. Was hot, but not as hot as I was worried it would be. Really happy with the pace by the end and still felt fine!
Sounds like a really good day out. And glad you felt strong. Loving the idea of picking up the pace, always a fun way to run a race like this. Overall just a really good weekend. Gotta love running. Well done Ben. 6 stars now!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
