3 good runs this week and a nice rest ahead of the Pier to Pier which is the main run this week. Always a good event to look forward to and a great chance to work on the endurance. Any problems let me know. Tuesday’s session is with the group and the short reps should work well for you.

Zone 2: Easy

Long runs are key. Fuel and hydrate well & join a group if you can.

117 minute run ( but put 120 as on Saturday put 130 but did 139 minutes ) Off road. HR 134 bpm Zone 2. 11.46km/7.2 miles. Very enjoyable off road run. I swapped efforts for off road as could get a lift there straight from work. Have moved S and C and Stretches to Wednesday, then Rest days before P2P on Sunday. Planning to do P2P as a training run rather than a race to get time on feet and take it steady.
Excellent work Ellie. Time on feet, especially on the trails is just what we want. And agree about Sunday. Even as a training run the distance makes it a very challenging run, so you’ll get the same rewards as if pushing for a time really. In fact given your goal, more time on feet is favourable.

Zone 3: Steady

The Pier to Pier. What a race. Unless you are really pushing for a quick time, in which case, go hard early (need to be well trained for this strategy), my advice is slowly build the pace and work your way through the Zones. But you certainly don’t want to be quicker than half marathon pace until late in the race.
