The Weald is really about time on feet. You might get round quicker than 3 hours, but just press start on your watch and go, ignore it for the rest of the run. Walking up some of the tougher hills is advised as we want to keep the heart rate down here and you’re practicing strategy which you’ll adopt at Beachy Head. Plus we want to come out the other side of this run ready to train next week, so if you kill yourself up the hills, you’re going to ruin next weeks training. Running with Sue and Jo would be perfect. It also means we can ditch Thursdays training which works well this week and still hit your target.

You can superset two exercises together. I’ve tried to set it up like that. So you would do 15 reps of deadlifts, straight into 10 reps of Tricep Dips, and then repeat 3 times. Helps save on recoveries and can make the session shorter. It’s not essential, but an option.

Total of 21 mins of efforts!! A good opportunity to work on a variety of paces across varied reps. The shorter the rep, the quicker you go.

Done and done. Did the 4321 on Monday at Rye. S&C almost killed me! I did have to drop down some of the weights. I’ll do the next one and make a note of these and we can update.
Excellent work Rebecca. I think that’s the be expected for the S&C but that’s ok, 1 step back, 2 steps forward, I think the break will have done you good long term. Great to have you back.

If you have an accurate heart rate, then use that as your main data to determine pace, if not RPE is the best option. Hills are always going to cause them to go too high, unless you are super fit. Finish off with some strides.

It’s and RDA coaching day today so went out early and with the dog. I walked up to the bottom of the Firehills then ran from there (and ended up at a little under 50 minutes which is annoying but there was good elevation). Also no flat areas – especially with the dog (as I’ve tripped over him before on strides).. I need to find a way to fit the three together… let me have a think… Stretches done.. I’m getting into them…
To be honest the elevation will make up for the missing minutes. I give more points to people who do 60 mins at Horntye given it’s always hilly. Hill Sprints are a good alternative to strides. They only need to be 10 seconds, so shorter bursts. Well done on the stretches as well. A nice addition.

Time to make sure your fuelling and hydration is on point. 30-60g of carbs per hour. The longer the run goes on the tougher it will get.

Lovely scenery – nice as a easy run but was tough with the rolling hills, once you got your rhythm you’d have to stop. Bizarrely, I found the Brighton Trail Marathon more enjoyable – also I trained for that but not for this… I would do Weald Challenge again. And have stretched – I’m finding the wide leg stretch very good.
Perhaps just a little shock to the system after a month of? But a really good way to get the long run in and just a nice enjoyable morning with a great group of people. I think you will find Beachy Head similar in terms of the lack of rhythm you can get into with a lot of walking so this was pretty good prep. Excellent first week of the new plan.
