Week Commencing: 20 July 2026

The Pier to Pier makes up the majority of this weeks points, so after efforts we keep it very light to save the legs for the 16 miles. This is a big week but the next run is Friday next week, so loads of recovery. Any issues with the schedule let me know. If you want some variety in the S&C, just ask. But keep up the great work Rebecca.

It all depends on the nature of the session as to how hard you want to work. The longer the reps, the slightly slower the pace will be. Or if doing hills, focus on RPE rather than pace. But you always want to be working hard to ensure you make the necessary gains.

Was tough but enjoyed the session. Mis-entered the session on my watch so had to stop and start again. Still not at good as your sessions :-(
Ah thank you. I felt like the session itself was good. But the atmosphere feels different. Might just be as you get a different perspective running than you do coaching. But lots of new faces and just felt a bit flat from a group perspective. Glad you enjoyed it worked hard, loving the max heart rate as well. Top work Rebecca.

You can superset two exercises together. I’ve tried to set it up like that. So you would do 15 reps of deadlifts, straight into 10 reps of Tricep Dips, and then repeat 3 times. Helps save on recoveries and can make the session shorter. It’s not essential, but an option.

Done – as per plan. no issues.
Bosh!! 💪

Zone 2

The biggest mistake we can make with these recovery runs is running too fast. This will mean when our harder sessions come round we are still fatigued and not able to put enough effort in to make the necessary gains.

Done – went around rye harbour… with the heat took it a bit slower so didn’t get all the way around. Was useful to run at lunchtime as it’s modelled P2P so helped with pacing plan… thinking 11:30/12 min up to mile 10, see how I feel given the heat and adjust from there?
Well done Rebecca, yeah I like that pacing strategy for Sunday. I would target that pace range but just see if anyone is going the same speed. Or roughly the same pace. If you get detached on that route it can be a lonely run. I’ve done it many times, some where I ended up on my own, others in a little pack, the latter being much more fun and I’ve already been chatting to a few of the team to try and run with, at the start at least. Ellie & Jo are running but I think you are probably a bit quicker than those two. See how things unfold.

Zone 1: Recovery

You’ll likely need to push the pace a little just to get the heart rate into Zone 1, so don’t be fooled into thinking this will be an easy bike ride.

Done. Husband joined me today which was nice. Need to start planning a different route as I’m getting slightly quicker I’m under time so have to loop around a bit!! WRT to next weeks plan, I’m not around on Thursday and have limited time on Tuesday, the rest of the week is fine.
Nice to have the company and good to see the pace is improving. I have updated next weeks schedule based on that info. I didn’t know what WRT stood for, had to look it up. Every day is a school day.

Zone 3: Steady

The Pier to Pier. What a race. Unless you are really pushing for a quick time, in which case, go hard early (need to be well trained for this strategy), my advice is slowly build the pace and work your way through the Zones. But you certainly don’t want to be quicker than half marathon pace until late in the race.
