Another gym session! I can’t do lunges, squats or steps, so I more or less ignored your exercise list- sorry! But I did a 20 min pyramid session on cross trainer (progressively harder then easier), plus sit ups, booty builder, abs, ads, triceps and a clever machine where you lie on your front and lift a weighted bar across the back of your ankles.

Woke up feeling pretty stiff after racing followed by golf at the coast into gales yesterday. Went to track tonight but did two loops to get the legs moving and mainly helped the juniors with the long jump so kept it very light. Stretches where needed tonight especially as I am up early to do hills before heading into London for work

Well i couldn’t get out on the bike this morning as I needed the van at work. So I hit up the elliptical once I got home and put it on a tougher programme and got the hr up on the tough bits it was pretty much intervals. Then done strenght after I did do som single leg po gos just to put some strain through the niggle and it did hurt but just felt bruised which kinda makes sesne as I do have some bruises coming out, I think its from me giving it a very deep massage 🤦‍♂️. Legs feel strong though so that is a positive, im Not sure if i will run tomorrow yet or wait till the weekend just to have more time to let the bruises clear. I will probably go to the gym after work so I could try the treadmill if I feel its worth the risk but we will see.

Great run. Half marathon in 1hr 40’ and finished very relaxed. Of course I was tired and had a nap when I got home but felt really good. Unfortunately I woke up on Monday with my lower back in spasm which makes every movement difficult and painful. When I’ve had sciatica recently I have felt a stab in my right buttock first but this is deep in the small of my back. I hope it goes away and doesn’t stay for weeks.

Short Terms Goals

Practice shorter distance races – have entered several up to end May – icklesham 8k 26/4; HaywardsHeath 10m 3/5; Horsham 10k 10/5; Rye 10m 17/5; and Hastings 5m 31/5. Then 2 weeks holiday.

Get back the fitness lost while waiting for diagnosis (v little S&C, running, or other activity November to March.

Lose 2 kg (usually 55kg now 57kg

Up the cross training – still learning machines at Falaise but enjoying elliptical, recumbent bike and a couple of weight machines, all selected to not worsen the spinal stenosis.

Get my bike back in working order and cycle more!
