Not essential as runners but it’s good to feel strong and can help maintain good form deep into races.
I’ve changed it up a lot this week. Moved the session we did have scheduled last Sunday as that’s a good one. Kept the speed work below LT2 to reduce the risk of damaging the calf and leaving it later in the week too. Then just complimented with two easy runs. Keep them flat and in Z 2 if you can. But still a really good week with 139pts on the table. Any issues Phil let me know. Keep smashing it.

Great session. If short on time superset a few exercises. Let’s do this 💪
A stretching routine you can do daily to help with your flexibility. 30 seconds for each stretch is plenty.
It’s important to keep the easy runs easy. Focus on good running form and low heart rate.
A good way to boost cardio whilst reducing the risk of injury. The elliptical can tone muscles and improve endurance whilst being gentle on your joints. You might find you have to work quite hard to get your heart rate in Zone 2.

Try and hit a pace somewhere in Zone 5: 10k. If the route is not flat you can focus on heart rate instead and try to avoid drifting into Zone 6. This should feel comfortably hard.

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.
A total of 13 miles, so you cover the distance of a half marathon, but only 6 of those miles are at your target pace. A good chance to get some miles in at goal pace. Adds some variety to your long run as well. If the route isn’t flat or conditions are challenging focus on RPE over pace. It’s not always essential to hit goal pace in these sessions. Obviously into a strong headwind you will be slower.
