An interesting week with 3 races. So very important to treat Thursday and a light jog and not push too hard. But you have permission to race hard on both Tuesday and Sunday. Don’t kill yourself in the handicap race though, run a solid 5k as almost impossible for anyone with accurate recent times to win that event. Any issues let me know. Keep up the great work Lou.

I’m a big fan of consistent splits. With any race avoiding getting swept away with the crowds is key, so focus on that early pace and hold back, settle into a rhythm. Km 4 is often the hardest, so zone in on 4 and dig deep. You got this!
Likely your heart rate will climb as you run up the hills, so don’t worry too much about drifting into Zone 3 for the hills, try and keep the rest in Zone 2.
5 miles is a really tough distance to get right. Rest assured, this is tough. The first mile is so important, don’t go off too quick and you’ll set yourself up for a strong race. Pace should be right at the top of your Zone 5, 10k target. Towards the end you’ll be working in Zone 6 though from an RPE and heart rate perspective.
