Zone 2: Easy

A great form of cross trainer for us runners. Find the level which means your heart rate is in zone 2. If you go other that, reduce the level. It’s that simple.

That’s great to hear, sometimes these niggles do go quickly, although less likely to hurt doing gym and stairs to be fair. But an excellent start to the week Jo!

Zone 2: Easy

Maintaining your current 5k pace will get progressively more challenging as a session unfolds. So breaking it down in this nature should allow you to maintain that pace for the whole session.

This was hard after the break but enjoyed it, but my ankle didn’t. Going to have to give it a rest on Wednesday and try to fit in 60 minutes later in the week if I can. Don’t want to ruin the long run I have in mind.
You did really well Jo. I could see you were working hard but the pace was good. Sometimes if you know you’re not quite fit enough to do every session it’s about asking what’s the most beneficial? So if you do have to miss the 60 mins, so you can get the longer run done, so be it. Also you might find cross training is a good substitute. Whether that be the bike or elliptical, you can still get the same aerobic benefit without the impact on the ankle.

All about time on feet. Don’t focus on pace. Instead keep that effort level down and concentrate on good running economy. Fuelling and hydration key too.
