Week Commencing: 29 June 26

We don’t want to be long running every weekend, so it’s good to mix it up now and again, a parkrun is a great way of doing that. Tuesday would be a good opportunity to join the off road gang. A very good week all in all, with 90 pts up for grabs. Any problems let me know, but keep up the great work Ellie.

Zone 2: Easy

5 miles is a really tough distance to get right. Rest assured, this is tough. The first mile is so important, don’t go off too quick and you’ll set yourself up for a strong race. Pace should be right at the top of your Zone 5, 10k target. Towards the end you’ll be working in Zone 6 though from an RPE and heart rate perspective.

Bewl 5 miles. Found this very tough in the heat. Walked intermittently and then walked near the end to help Chrissie when she sprained her ankle. Mark came back from the finish to help so I then left Chrissie with Mark to run to the finish. Not my best race, but actually was a PB compared to last year at 1 hour 10 mins ( 1 hour 14 mins last year ) I think Bewl is deceptive, and needs much more training than you would think so will remember that for next year. I am aware my training has dropped off dramatically, just trying to keep getting some done. Haven’t forgotten the Amble or Beachy Head are getting closer, will start putting the time in.
Well done Ellie. Yeah Bewl is a bit of a beast. Much harder than the mileage suggests. Hopefully you will still have some of the London fitness in the legs, but yes, the sooner you can get the miles in, the better. But you do know now that are you capable of running those distances on the day, which should still give you a lot of confidence.
