The weekend off? That does mean we cram quite a bit in during the week. Tuesday session is what the team are doing. I’m hopeful you should be ok for this as it’s tough, but pace wise it’s a slow session due to the hills, and it’s always a good one for testing strength. If you are concerned I can switch it out. Any problems let me know. Keep smashing it Anna 💪

A great form of cross trainer for us runners. Find the level which means your heart rate is in zone 2. If you go other that, reduce the level. It’s that simple.

All good! A sweaty 70 mins of strength gains. Love it.
You are a changed person. Awesome work Anna.

Find a location where you can pick different points on the hill. Lamp posts are great. So for example you would run to the first lamppost and back to the bottom of the hill. Then to the second lamppost and back. Keep making the reps longer until you hit 20 mins, and then start making the reps shorter again.

Focus on effort level rather than pace or heart rate as both will fluctuate depending if you are going up or down the hill

I don’t know why I like this session so much but I really do! Maybe I should be pushing harder, but I like the fact I can hold a steady uphill pace for the session, and feel good throughout. Great to be running with the group again, too.
In a group it’s great. Solo it’s a grind, but it works well, just that different target each time. I think you executed this really well. There may be a time that pusher harder will bring more gains but off the back of the injury it was smart to keep a consistent pace. The effort level was there, the max HR was where we would like it, so I think you did really well and looked strong throughout. To be honest this session highlighted those that do their S&C and those who don’t. I could tell in the form/posture deep in that session, the likes of yourself, Lou and Emily all looked strong towards the end 💪 Great to have you back.

A good way to boost cardio whilst reducing the risk of injury. The elliptical can tone muscles and improve endurance whilst being gentle on your joints.

This was great! I had an induction day at my new workplace (SEN teacher at Hollington) and didn’t have to be there until 10, so I got a rare chance to go to the gym in the morning! Elliptical was good- I love the game of keeping my HR between 142 and 144 by going up or down the resistance levels… (lol, easily pleased!!!🤣) Did all the arms and legs work too. 😃
Fantastic. We think alike. Working to HR now gives every run, cross training session I do real purpose and I’m the same on the stairs, constantly switching the levels to ensure I’m in the right place. Congrats on the new job, hope it goes well. Just finished my stint with the kids this week and think I might miss coaching them over the holidays.

Loved this. Really enjoying the HR thing. Walked hills as fast as zone 2 would allow, and ran faster between hills to get HR as high in zone 2 as possible. Fun! Really lovely evening on trails too.
So pleased you are enjoying this. I think going forward when you do race as well, you’re going to have a much better understanding on when to attack and when to ease off. So rather than one pace all the time there’s just more variety right? And I’m sure there will be other benefits to that, like working the muscles slightly differently as well. Great job Anna.

Amazing run on rye reserve… stunning. Loved that I did 10.3km in an hour too, and pretty much consistent HR between 141 and 144! Totally ran out of time for gym but I will fit it in tomorrow! Nb gym session now done!
I like this and shows that if conditions and the route are favourable you can run pretty quick whilst keeping that HR down. Awesome work Anna.
