Another strong week, plenty of good gym work. My only concern would be the Tuesday group session because the short quick stuff it’s been a while, so if you do fancy this just run within yourself a bit, to prevent doing any damage. Any other issues though let me know. Keep building, you are doing great.

A really good gym workout making excellent use of the machines.

Zone 2: Easy

A great form of cross trainer for us runners. Find the level which means your heart rate is in zone 2. If you go other that, reduce the level. It’s that simple.

All good! Kept HR between 140- 144 on stairs, then did all other legs and core!
Boom!!! Love it. Are you now on your hols? Super jealous if that is the case.

Focus purely on HR, you might find it takes a while to get up to just under LT2, but the 2nd and 3rd reps we should be sitting just under that number and hopefully running somewhere between HM & 10k pace.

Great fun! I found it really hard to get my heart rate high enough on the flat- as you know, I’m no sprinter!!!! I got it to a steady 160 on the last two efforts though… Well up for doing it again another time though. And my VO2 max went up to 45!! Ps I put HR and pace charts on strava as I can’t attach here.
Smashed it. The pace for that HR. The facts are simple. We can run just below are LT2 for about 60 mins. So the fact you were running around 5 min kms and still only at 160 HR suggests to me, on a flat 10k route you’ve got something in the low 50 mins in you. Especially as in a 10k we can push that HR higher towards the end. Hopefully you don’t feel too tired afterwards either. I noticed when I do these sessions compared to say a 5k efforts, my legs are not as trashed and that’s one of the big benefits. I’d be interested to hear how you feel later today or even tomorrow in terms of post session fatigue. But great work Anna

Zone 2: Easy

A good way to boost cardio whilst reducing the risk of injury. The elliptical can tone muscles and improve endurance whilst being gentle on your joints.

Ha ha well using a caravan park gym made me appreciate the kit in my usual gym!! Think I did it all though- no adductor abductor machines but think I covered everything else, and kept in zone 2 on their shonky elliptical! X Ps in answer to your feedback yesterday- I had no fatigue at all after yesterday’s run… not at any time… I don’t know if that’s good or if you’ll say I wasn’t working hard enough!!!
No not at all, it’s what we want and it’s the main benefit of threshold running in truth. It doesn’t work the body to the point where that normal fatigue kicks in. But you still get a good workout in. Good alternatives to the add/abd machines are side lunges or crab walks. Really well done for still fitting it in though. Hope you are having a nice time?

Zone 2: Easy

If you have accurate heart rate data that is far and away the best guide for this run. Stay in Zone 2 if you can.

Amazing run! On holiday with daughter and my parents, and I got an hour to myself exploring- so beautiful. Wish it’d been a longer run! Zone 2, so I dutifully walked the bigger hills… it’s good, by the top of them I’m raring to go!
Loving the approach. Loving the pics. Loving your attitude. Have a fab time with your family.

Zone 2: Easy

Pushing beyond that 2 hour barrier is a good mental win. Important to be fuelling and staying hydrated on these runs.

Job done! Very unusually for me, I didn’t feel like running today, and for at least an hour I felt sluggish… and the air felt harder to breath- I think the rain followed by sun made it a bit steamy… But I did it! Just felt a bit less punchy! Well done fo the p2p run this morning!
